I figured this would be a somewhat easier alternative to using reading glasses for tying on flies but after trying them, I’m not so sure. The main issue is the relatively weak magnification. There was no information about the magnification on the product listing so I assumed it would be something like 4X to really be helpful. When they arrived, the packaging stated a magnification of 2.5X, which is okay, but definitely not the amount that would really help when tying on small flies like midges.I tried to show this level of magnification with the two photos I took, and I think you’ll see, it’s not significant.On the upside, these are easy to use and do hold quite well on my nose when “wedged” into place, and the lanyard helps to keep them handy when attached to your vest. Also, the cost is pretty low.I will have these on my vest or attached to my chest pack but will probably see if I can find something similar with greater magnification.

These fit and stay on bridge of nose well with small serrations to hold well. Good magnification. Good for any fisherman putting line through an eye, hook, lure, or fly. Lightweight for easy packing, and can wear easily while fishing. Highly recommend.
I thought these clip on magnification lenses were the perfect solution to help aging eyes see smaller fishing lines better when tying knots out on the water without having to carry prescription reading glasses. The lenses themselves provide enough magnification to do just that at 2.5x. But these clip over your nose and have almost like serrated edges on the part that pinches down on your nose to stay in place. That doesn't exactly feel comfortable for any extended period of time. But I'll still give them a shot out on the water to see if the benefit outweighs the temporary discomfort.
Great idea and they work pretty good, though often fall off my nose when I am looking down. The ones with the clip release would not work for me since they are prone to fall off.I already had a pair with the little magnet, but the security line got tangled in other gear the little magnet added a bit of weight to the top of the glasses which already weren't too stable on my nose.I opted for the lanyard this time. The lanyard is a bit short, but I can always lengthen the loop that attaches to the bottom of the magnifiers with some dacron fly backing.They are pretty easy to scratch so I found a little protective bag from a pair of sunglasses to keep them protected when I am not on the water. One handy addition would be some sort of sleeve to attach or clip on your vest, shirt, or whatever to slide them in when not needed instead of them flopping around getting scratched or getting in the way of other gear when fishing or bending over with a net.The price is fine and they work great when they do.
