Tarp attachment kit from Hippo Marine with multiple bungee cords and adhesive tarp tie-down patches
Tarp Attachment Point – Tie-Down Patch and Bungee cord | 10-pack

A tarp can be securely tied around the edges and still flap in the wind. This often happens when covering a boat, machine, trailer, or any other object that is not perfectly square.
Wind gets underneath the tarp and makes loose sections move back and forth. This causes unnecessary wear on the fabric, eyelets, and supporting frame. On a boat, a flapping tarp can also strike the gelcoat, railings, lights, and other sensitive parts.
An extra attachment point lets you secure the tarp exactly where more support is needed.
The attachment patch is best placed above a pipe or support in the tarp frame. The rubber tie then pulls the tarp closer to the support and reduces the loose area that the wind can catch.
Unlike fixed eyelets and reinforcement strips, the attachment patch can be positioned exactly where it is needed. This is especially useful when covering boats, because the tarp and supporting frame rarely sit in exactly the same position from one year to the next.
When an old attachment hole is no longer in the right position, it should not be pulled sideways to make it fit. This creates uneven tension and increases the risk of damage to both the hole and the tarp. Instead, apply a new attachment patch in the correct position.
The self-adhesive patch spreads the load over a larger area and creates a reinforced attachment point without sewing.
It is suitable for tarps made from materials such as PE, PVC, vinyl, and many woven fabrics.
The pack contains 10 attachment patches and 10 rubber ties.

Q: What is an extra tarp attachment point used for?
A: It is used to tension a loose section of tarp where the existing eyelets are not in the correct position. Its main purpose is to reduce movement and flapping in the wind.

Q: Where should the attachment patch be placed?
A: It should be placed where the tarp needs additional support, preferably directly above a pipe, ridge pole, or another strong part of the tarp frame. This allows the tarp to be pulled down towards the support.

Q: Why are the original eyelets not always enough?
A: The eyelets are fixed in standard positions and may not match the shape of the object being covered. On a boat or other irregular shape, loose sections can remain even when all the edge eyelets are secured.

Q: How does the product reduce flapping?
A: The attachment point keeps the tarp closer to the supporting frame and reduces the loose area that the wind can lift. Less movement means less wear on both the tarp and its attachment points.

Q: Can I reuse the same attachment hole next year?
A: Yes, provided it is still in the correct position. However, the tarp and frame rarely sit exactly the same way every year. When the hole is no longer in the right place, apply a new patch instead of pulling the old hole sideways.

Q: Why should I not pull an old hole sideways?
A: Sideways tension concentrates the load on one side of the reinforced area. This can stretch the hole, damage the tarp, or cause the attachment point to fail.

Q: How is the attachment patch installed?
A: Clean and dry the surface, position the patch where it is needed, and press it down firmly. A hole is then made through the reinforced area and the rubber tie is fitted through it.

Q: Are any tools required?
A: No sewing is required. A hole must be made through the installed patch using a suitable pointed tool or the pointed end of the rubber tie, depending on the thickness of the tarp material.

Q: Can the attachment patch be moved after installation?
A: No. The attachment patch is intended to remain permanently in place. Check the position carefully before pressing it onto the tarp.

Q: Can the rubber tie be reused?
A: Yes. The rubber tie can normally be removed and reused as long as it is undamaged and still retains good elasticity.

Q: Which materials is the product suitable for?
A: It is intended for tarps and cover materials made from PE, PVC, vinyl, and many woven fabrics. The surface must be clean, dry, and suitable for self-adhesive installation.

Q: What can the product be used on?
A: It is suitable for:
• Boat tarps
• Tarp support frames
• Construction tarps
• Trailer covers
• Machinery covers
• Camping tarps
• Garden furniture covers
• Temporary and irregular cover setups

Q: Will the attachment point stop all flapping?
A: It can greatly reduce flapping when positioned correctly. The final result also depends on the tarp frame, edge attachments, tarp shape, and how much wind can get underneath the cover.

Q: How tightly should the rubber tie be tensioned?
A: It should be tight enough to keep the tarp close to the support and reduce movement. Do not overtighten it, as this may overload the tarp fabric, attachment patch, or supporting frame.
